City Lights Silent Meditation at ISHSKO Wellness Centre

City Lights Silent Meditation at ISHSKO Wellness Centre

What is City Lights?

“City Lights” is an initiative of Kris & Tijn Touber and started in the Netherlands. It was set-up to promote a culture of enlightenment. To make this possible they ask people to open their living rooms in homes and communial spaces for meditation. According to research, when people sit together in silence they have a harmonising effect on their environment. In cities where people meditate in groups on a regular basis, there is less crime, less pressure on emergency rooms and less traffic accidents. In this humble action of silence and reflection ‘WE’ are very effective. In a time of potential hardening, individualism and exclusion of each other, “City Light” promotes a living culture of togetherness: an oasis where we are welcome for an hour of silence, love and relaxation to feel at home with ourselves, each other and our environment once again.

How does it work?

Every Monday and every 2nd Sunday of the month a silent meditation is carried out in several hundred homes all over Europe. The ISHSKO WELLNESS CENTRE has joined the “City Light” initiative by opening its doors on the Monday evenings. We gather silently in the meditation room from 6.45pm. At 7pm the meditation begins, lasting 1hour. It is accompanied with a quiet bell ringing or gong music in the background. At 8pm we leave the room in silence. Any of us wishing to exchange experiences is welcome to do so afterwards. There are no charges for coming together on these evenings. Everything is free. We look forward to being with you in Silence.
